Le mie bimbe (di 8 e 6 anni) adorano i lavoretti manuali (sarà questione di DNA? mah...) e da tempo mi chiedevano di poter ricoprire una cesta portaoggetti che hanno in camera... Ho pensato che la maggior parte del lavoro potevano farlo loro, visto che sono due bimbe piuttosto attente e precise...
My girls ( 8 and 6 years old) love craft work ( will be a matter of DNA ?... ) and they often asked me to cover a storage basket in their bedroom... I thought that they could do most of the work , since they are two girls rather careful and precise ...
L'obiettivo era quello di ricoprire l'orribile tapezzeria del pouff con qualcosa che piacesse a loro, o meglio fatto da loro... avevamo uno scampolo di tela da rivestimento che abbiamo pensato di ingentilire con stencil di disegni scelti da loro e applicati da loro.
The object was to cover the horrible tapestry of this storage basket with something that would appeal to them , or better done by them ... we had a scrap of canvas that we thought we would decore with stencil drawings selected by them and applied by them.
Scelta l'immagine, si ricalca su un foglio di acetato con un pennarello indelebile, e poi si ritaglia accuratamente.
Once they have chosen the image , they draw it on acetate sheet with a permanent marker , and then carefully cut the shape.
A questo punto si prende un colore per stoffa (noi abbiamo scelto un bianco non troppo coprente per avere un effetto shabby-romantico), una spugnetta e ci si prepara per l'applicazione. Bisogna avere l'accortezza di mettere un foglio di cartoncino sotto la stoffa per non permettere al colore di trapassare la stoffa.
Now they take a colour for fabric ( we chose a white not too opaque for a shabby - romantic effect ), a sponge and get ready for the application. We have to have the foresight to put a sheet of paper under the fabric not to allow the color to pierce the fabric ..
Sono state brave, vero? A questo punto subentro io con sparapunti e pistola di colla a caldo.
MI RACCOMANDO: quando il colore sarà asciutto, stirate con un ferro da stiro caldissimo (non a vapore), magari sovrapponendo tra la tela stampata e il ferro un fazzoletto di cotone, o comunque un velo intermedio.
Well done, right? Now it's my turn with glue and staplegun. RECOMMENDED : when the color is dry, it must be ironed with a hot iron (not a steam one) , it's better to overlap between the printed canvas and iron a cotton handkerchief, or at least an intermediate veil.
...e con pazienza si assembla tutto. Per sicurezza ho fissato tutto prima con la colla a caldo e poi ulteriormente fissato con la sparapunti, ma penso che la sparapunti sarebbe bastata!
... And patiently assemble everything. For security I set it all before with hot glue and then further secured with the staple gun , but I think the staple gun would have been enough !
et voilà, le bimbe sono orgogliosissime (nonostante qualche imperfezione!)
